Pilgrims' Way poetry competition success
For the second year running, Pilgrims' Way has students chosen for the Canterbury Arts Festival School Poetry Competition final. Last year, we had three children shortlisted; this year, we have increased that to four children!
The Canterbury Arts Festival Poetry Competition has hundreds of entries from schools all around Canterbury District. So, by being shortlisted, the children have already done incredibly and can be considered winners. The theme for this year's festival was 'Counting'. The children have taken this theme in many different directions to create truly wonderful poems.
On the presentation evening, the shortlisted children were invited to perform their poem to the audience. This performance will be assessed alongside the quality of the written poem when a winner is chosen.
We are delighted to announce that two of our Pilgrims' Way Pupils were awarded winners in the 5-8 Year Old category. A huge congratulations to you both!
